From the Garden: What to do with Summer Produce!

Saturday July 19th, 6:30 to 10:00PM

Nancy Kirkiles-Smith- Instructor

The veggies are coming in fast from the garden and the farmer's markets!  But, what to do with this bounty?  I have a wonderful cookbook called The Side Gardener by Rosie Daykin.  It's a lovely book, full of great recipes and ideas for gardening and chicken raising.  Her book's photographs also mirror my aesthetic- vintage transferware, silver plate and plenty of flower pots.  Most of the recipes I chose for this class were from this book with the exception of the tempeh patties which are from the First Mess cookbook (also a great cookbook). I think tempeh is an under appreciated super duper source of plant-based protein.  It needs more exposure and a little instruction on how best to prepare it.  Here's a ringing tempeh endorsement- my husband and I went to The Laurel restaurant in West Harford CT and I ordered the tempeh dish- he ate half of it!  And he's a beef guy!

Join us for this exploration of what to do with zucchini and other summer produce!  This class is vegetarian (some recipes have dairy and the cake has eggs).
